Types of Security Cameras Box Cameras- Typically are box shaped and generally require accessories to operate. With most box cameras you will need to purchase a lens, a mount and an encasing. Bullet Cameras- Are more sleek and slim then a box camera but in a similar shape. Bullet cameras usually come with mounting and a lens already attached. Dome Cameras- Have a dome over it's lens. These are more of a discreet camera and are commonly used in offices. A dome can have a vandal resistant or a vandal proof encasing that allows it to withstand physical abuse.
Ip Cameras- These security cameras are digital and are also called mega pixel cameras. Analog cameras can not reach the picture quality/resolution of a digital camera. Ip cameras hook into a network video recorder (NVR). When considering IP cameras consider the available bandwidth on network. If you use a IP camera and an NVR that are both different manufacturers make sure they are compatible. Night-Vision Cameras- Wireless Cameras- Most security cameras can be converting to a wireless setup. The camera will be setup to a device that transmits a signal to the receiver which gets plugged into the DVR. Wireless cameras generally run on 2.4ghz frequency.
